Something I’ve really become interested in recently is the law of attraction. I was introduced to this theory/way of thinking through Youtube videos originally, then I started to practice it myself and the outcomes I saw were amazing.
What exactly is the ‘law of attraction?’
If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, the law of attraction is the theory that if you put positivity into the universe, you will receive positivity back. Sounds a bit cliche, doesn’t it? But, trust me, it actually works!
Why does the law of attraction appeal to me?
Ever since discovering the law of attraction theory, I put it into practice whenever I can. An example is this: Imagine you’re at work, and you’re in a really stressed out, bad mood. Being stressed about deadlines leads you to rush things you’re doing, which often leads to making mistakes. Making mistakes makes you even more stressed and makes your mood worse, and then the whole day is a right off as it just continues to get gradually worse. However, if you went into work with a positive mindset and took time with your work instead of rushing and stressing yourself out even more, the day would end much more positively than it would if you went with the first option.
Why should we practice the law of attraction?
Now, it’s a given that we all have bad days. We all have days where we just can’t be bothered acting positive. However, if we try to practice the law of attraction whenever we can, as much as we can, I can guarentee our every-day lives will improve. Every-day activities lead to end goals, right? So acting positive daily can actually lead to you smashing some of your life-long goals. Trust me, if you think I’m talking rubbish, just try it out for yourself.
How do we put the law of attraction into practice?
Now, the important thing to remember is that faking positivity doesn’t necessarily work in this instance. The ‘fake it til you make it’ attitude is a great one to have if you’re trying to change your mindset, and that’s definitely the beginning stage of introducing yourself to the law of attraction. However, the universe can tell the difference between real emotions and fake ones. This is why it’s so incredibly important to really try to change your mindset. Personally, I have been trying so hard to change my mindset and look at things more positively. I definitely understand this can be harder for some than others, especially those suffering with mental health issues, but if you actively choose to make the steps towards changing your mindset towards life, I promise the benefits will be noticeable and have a huge impact on your life.
Do your own research
If you have the time, I really recommend reading up about the law of attraction. You can find the book ‘The Secret’ based on the law of attraction here. If you can, I want you to walk round with a smile on your face tomorrow. Often, this can trick your mind into thinking you’re really happy, which in turn actually helps lift your mood. It’s a great technique that I try my best to practice when I feel up to it.
What’s your opinion on the law of attraction – load of rubbish or interesting and accurate?! Let me know down below in the comments. <3

I haven’t read the book, but I saw the film version of The Secret. From a science perspective some of the things they claimed are absolutely absurd. It seems like people who find it helpful are talking more about the positive psychology side of it rather than the underlying pseudoscience. The example you gave of bringing a more positive mindset to work and as a result slowing down and stressing less is much more positive psychology than The Secret’s idea that if your thoughts are vibrating at the right frequency then you don’t need to do anything because the universe will give you exactly what you’re vibrating for.

I haven’t actually read the book in it’s entirety yet but I’ve heard some great things about it and have read snippets! I’ll have to give it a go myself to form my own opinion, or at least watch the film version.
Yeah, I don’t personally see how any science can back up the theory whatsoever, I think it’s purely psychological. If you give out positive vibes, people will react to you positively. Therefore, your life will be surrounded by more positivity.

Wonderful post.
If you want good things, you have to act and expect same to attract them. You can’t fake it too because it’d be draining and feel forced making you uncomfortable.

Thank you! I completely agree.

I have heard quite a lot about the law of attraction, and yet I am still to actually make conscious changes in order to make it work in my favour! I really need to start setting some time aside to focus on this though, because I definitely believe it is a thing! I think I have “The Secret” still laying around somewhere – time to brush off the dust 😉

I try my best but sometimes it can be hard! I haven’t actually read the whole of the secret yet but i need to x

I learned something like this in therapy. When I was a bridesmaids for my sisters wedding, I was anxious about the people and standing in front of everyone. I skipped the events leading up to the wedding. I told my therapist everything I was worried about and she helped turn it into a positive. If I was feeling a certain way, I could do this to help myself feel better.

I’m soon to be a bridesmaid at my brothers wedding and am so nervous! 🙁 I definitely need to try to turn into a positive x

This is a really interesting post, Sophie. I have heard of the Law of Attraction but never really knew what it involved. Your example makes sense, by taking control and trying to have a positive attitude can really turn the day around. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely week! <3 xx

I’ve always been really intrigued by the Law of Attraction but I have to admit, I tried to watch the Secret once and it was NOT for me. I definitely want to try and put this into practise though- I’m having a major feeling of self-doubt this evening for some reason so this could be just what I need.

Sophie, I’ve been getting more and more interested in the law of attraction as well and I can guarantee it 100% works!
I started practicing gratitude journaling twice a day this month and my reality has changed drastically. I recommend everyone to try that as well.
Like you said, the Universe can feel the difference between real and fake emotions. So practicing gratitude can foster that positivity within yourself. It’s great!
